Are you bored of changing data types in Excel – like changing
numbers of columns to number from text or changing format of dates? And
whenever you try to do it from Home (Alt H H N), it will not work – it will
show the data type of cell as number; however it is still not a number.
Today, I will tell you the easiest way to do so. Select the cell/column/row
to be changed. Then hit (Alt D E D) simultaneously. This will open Text to
Column option, which you can even do from home tab.
Suppose if you want to change the format of date from
(01-01-2015) to (01-Jan-2014) then hit Alt D E D, press enter, press enter or
choose option as per need ( how do you want to separate your dates, by using ,
or / or . ,then choose option as per your need.
Refer image below:
Then choose the date format you want. Hit enter, hit finish,
it will change to another form, then follow same method and repeat the same
method once, and then you got what you wanted.
For text to number or text to date,
Follow same method and choose text or general. And do it
from (Alt H N N), this time it will change to the format you wanted.
